Reading the numbers
In South Australia the app holds fewer water filling points than dump points: 140 against 199, so leaving a town with full tanks makes more sense than counting on a refill at your next stop. Drinking water is listed at 30 dump points (15%), which helps, but that still leaves most without it in the record.
The dump points are spread across 154 towns and localities. Cleve, Mannum and Tantanoola have three each, and Balhannah and Beachport two. Beachport shows up twice in the list below, at the Surf Beach and at the Visitor Information Centre, while Cleve’s entries include the Cleve RV Park. Most other towns have a single site.
The National Public Toilet Map lists a washout tap at 38 sites (19%), useful for rinsing a cassette but not a source of drinking water. Toilets are listed at 51 sites, an accessible toilet at 33, accessible parking at 21, showers at 13 and sharps disposal at 10. Some entries combine a dump point with a full stop: Iron Knob Campground, Naracoorte Showgrounds and the Wetlands at Pinnaroo each list both a washout tap and drinking water. Kimba Recreation Reserve Free Camping Area lists drinking water and showers. Facilities without a flag may still exist on site; the source just does not record them.
The hosts range widely, from Coffin Bay Boat Ramp and Barrage Road 1 at Goolwa South to Farrell Flat Dump Point and the Visitors Information Centre at McLaren Vale. Of the 199, 189 are listed as free to use (95%). Open the linked page for current access before relying on any one of them, and keep cassette and black or grey tank waste for dump points only.
