Reading the numbers

Toilets are listed at 99 of Western Australia’s 238 dump points, a 42% share, and an accessible toilet at 85 (36%). Those are high shares for this data, and they make many of these stops useful as a full break rather than a quick empty. Kulin has all seven flags counted on this page, from washout tap to sharps disposal, and Bindoon Oval, Collie Visitor Centre and Dwellingup Visitor Centre each list six.

Kalgoorlie and Northampton have the most dump points, four each, followed by Marble Bar, Minilya and Narrogin with three. In total the 238 sites cover 190 towns and localities. Kalgoorlie’s entries include CY O'Connor Men's Shed and the Goldfields Art Centre, and the Goldfields Oasis Recreation Centre is listed at Kanowna. The list also takes in stops such as Murchison Settlement, Kirkalocka Station at Daggar Hills, Laverton Car Park and the Norseman Dog Park.

The app also counts 32 rest areas in Western Australia with a dump point, and 390 water filling points. Drinking water is listed at only 32 dump points (13%) and a washout tap at 36 (15%). A washout tap is there for rinsing a cassette, so fill drinking tanks from a listed drinking water tap or a water filling point instead. Accessible parking is listed at 36 sites, showers at 23 and sharps disposal at 17. Facilities the source does not flag may still be there, but the data cannot confirm them.

Of the 238, 234 are listed as free to use (98%). Munglinup is one entry with no fee summary in the record, so check its linked page. Cassette and black or grey tank waste should only go into a dump point, never anywhere else.
