Reading the numbers

New South Wales has 347 public dump points in the app, and they are spread across 266 towns and localities. That ratio says more than the total does: most towns with a dump point have just one. Temora has the most, with four, and Armidale, Bourke, Coleambally and Coonabarabran have three each. So you will find dump points in plenty of towns, but rarely a choice of them in the same place, and it pays to note your next one before you leave the last.

Every entry here comes from the National Public Toilet Map, and its facility flags hold the useful detail. A washout tap is listed at 56 sites (16%) and drinking water at 54 (16%). They are separate things. A washout tap is for rinsing a toilet cassette, so do not treat it as a drinking supply, even at a site that lists both. Toilets are listed at 110 sites, an accessible toilet at 80, accessible parking at 40, sharps disposal at 33 and showers at 29. A missing flag only means the source does not list that facility. It is not proof the site lacks it.

Dump points sit in all sorts of places. The list below includes showgrounds at Bathurst, Gunnedah and Milton, caravan parks such as Diamond Waters at Dunbogan and Soldiers Point Big4, the Maitland Visitor Information Centre, the Lions Club Rest Area at Gunnedah and an Ampol Foodary at Pheasants Nest. Where a dump point sits inside a caravan park or showground, open its linked page and check current access before you drive in.

On cost, 334 of the 347 (96%) are listed as free to use. For filling up, the app also holds 1006 water filling points in New South Wales, far more than the dump points, so fresh water is usually easier to find than a place to empty. Toilet cassettes and black or grey tanks belong in a dump point and should never be emptied anywhere else.
