Reading the numbers

New South Wales has 372 campgrounds in the app, every one of them from NSW NPWS, spread across 137 parks and reserves. That is a broad spread rather than a few big clusters. Myall Lakes National Park leads with 21, then the counts drop quickly: Murray Valley National Park has 16, and Murray Valley Regional Park and Warrumbungle National Park have 11 each. Between them, the two Murray Valley parks hold more campgrounds than Myall Lakes does, which the single-park ranking hides.

The facility flags are uneven. Toilets are listed at 76% of campgrounds and flush toilets at 74%, so some kind of toilet is the norm, and barbecues are listed at 62%. Drinking water is the outlier: the source lists it at only 27 campgrounds, or 7%, with showers at 15%. A missing flag is not proof that a tap is missing, but it is a good reason to carry your own water until the official page for a campground says otherwise. Phone reception is listed at 78% of sites, which is worth confirming on the official page before you rely on it.

Towing is where the data is thinnest. Caravan sites are listed at just 5 campgrounds and camper trailer sites at 2, and a boat ramp at 33. Those low counts say more about what the source records than about what fits on the ground, so check each campground’s official page for site sizes and access before committing a van to a long drive.

On fees, 121 campgrounds (33%) carry a park entry fee in this record, and 40 (11%) show no camping fee with a booking fee only. The remainder have neither label here, which does not make them free. The list below leans toward the best-equipped sites, such as Sandon River and Illaroo in Yuraygir National Park and Woody Head in Bundjalung National Park, so use the map for the wider picture and follow each official NSW NPWS link for current fees, closures and bookings.
