Reading the numbers
All 517 Queensland campgrounds in the app come from QPWS, and they are spread over 154 parks and reserves. A few parks stand well above the rest. K'gari, Great Sandy National Park has 35, Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park (CYPAL) has 25 and the Cooloola Recreation Area, Great Sandy National Park has 24. Together, the two Great Sandy entries hold far more campgrounds than any other park. Mount Barney National Park follows with 20, then Girraween and Oyala Thumotang (CYPAL) with 14 each.
Water is the standout in this state’s data. Drinking water is listed at 413 campgrounds, or 80%, and toilets at 62%, but flush toilets at only 21% and showers at 26%. Phone reception is listed at just 5 sites and barbecues at 10. Those two low counts reflect what QPWS records, so do not count on either facility until the official page confirms it.
The access flags help with choosing a site for your rig. Camper trailer sites and tent-beside-car sites are each listed at 46%, while caravan sites are listed at 62 campgrounds (12%). Campfires are listed as allowed at 53% and generators at 30%. These are the source’s general listings, not a guarantee for the day you arrive, so read the official page for current conditions before lighting a fire or starting a generator.
Only 6 campgrounds (1%) have a camping fee in this record. Do not read the rest as free camping; the fee field is simply blank for most of them, and fees and bookings should be checked site by site with QPWS. The places below begin with well-equipped entries such as Broadwater in Abergowrie State Forest, Eurimbula Creek, Carnarvon Gorge and the Inskip Peninsula Recreation Area camps, and the Camping rules in Queensland guide covers what applies across the state.
