Reading the numbers

Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park (CYPAL) has 25 campgrounds in the app, all from QPWS, and it ranks second in Queensland by campground count. Every one of them appears in the list below, so this page shows the park’s full set rather than a selection.

The names point to water. There are waterholes such as Dingo, Hanushs, Melaleuca, Midway, Old Faithful, Mick Fienn and Six Mile, crossings at Hann, Kalpowar and Saltwater, lagoons at Twelve Mile and Horseshoe, Sweetwater Lake, and river sites on the Annie and Bizant rivers. A boat ramp is listed at 4 campgrounds (16%): Orange Plain, Annie River, Bizant River and Brown Creek.

Some flags here are near universal. Campfires and generators are listed as allowed at 100% of campgrounds, tent-beside-car sites at 96% and camper trailer sites at 92%. Drinking water is listed at 96%, and Seven Mile is the one entry where the source does not list it; since this is a listing rather than a guarantee, confirm what is provided before you rely on it. Toilets are listed at 68%, flush toilets at 40% and showers at 64%. Annie River, Bizant River, Brown Creek, Basin Hole, Horseshoe Lagoon, Kennedy Bend, Seven Mile and Six Mile Waterhole have no toilets listed, which is a reason to check rather than proof there are none.

This record has no fee summary for any of the park’s campgrounds, so the list cannot tell you what a night costs or whether a site must be booked. Use the official link for each campground to check fees, bookings and closures before setting off, and read the Camping rules in Queensland guide for the statewide rules.
